Miss Robinson’s maths class have been learning how to share objects into equal groups this week. They have also learnt that ‘sharing’ is the same as ‘dividing’ and that they can use the ÷ sign when writing their sums. They used counters, and cubes to begin their learning then had a go at sharing M&M’s between smiley faces. Once they became confident with this, they learnt that they can simply use their times tables to work out the ÷ sums e.g. 20 ÷ 2 = 10 so they can count up to 20 in 2’s and see how many fingers they have used. The children said it was ‘really easy!’
