At the beginning of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, some of our pupils were the first to sign pledges where they promised not to stand by and ignore unkindness. This work with Northumbria Police’s Community Engagement team has been developing over several months. Michelle Redfern of the NPCE team said “Tolerance and respect make communities strong and help people to feel safe. Seeing that there are named upstanders in school who want to protect other people makes school feel even more safe and welcoming!”

We will not be bystanders!
